Business Dashboard - Custom Thresholds

Learn how to update the thresholds in your account, building(s) and space(s). These thresholds define when air quality indicators change from Good to Fair or Poor

Updated yesterday

Overview

Thresholds in the Airthings Dashboard define the levels at which air quality parameters shift from Good to Fair or Poor. By updating thresholds, you can align the Dashboard with your organization’s IAQ policies and local regulations, making it easier to monitor, report, and act on air quality data confidently.

Please note that only administrators can change the thresholds

Changes to thresholds apply across the Dashboard, including:

  • Spaces List

  • Floor Plans

  • IAQ graphs

  • Reports

  • (Public) Dashboards

Threshold Levels

Thresholds can be set at three levels:

Level

Scope

Key Notes

Account

All buildings and spaces under the account

Changes here are applied by default to all buildings and spaces. Individual buildings or spaces can override these defaults.

Building

All spaces in a building

Overrides account-level defaults for that building. Spaces can still set their own thresholds to override building-level settings.

Space

Individual space

Overrides both building- and account-level thresholds. Note: Space-level thresholds are not reflected in IAQ reports.

Threshold Hierarchy

Thresholds follow this hierarchy:

  • Space-level thresholds override building-level and account-level thresholds.

  • Building-level thresholds override account-level thresholds.

Thresholds in IAQ Reports

  • IAQ reports are generated at the building level, this means that Space-level thresholds are not reflected in these reports.

  • If building thresholds are set, these will be used in the report.

  • If no building-level thresholds are set, account-level thresholds are used.

The applied thresholds are listed in each IAQ report per parameter:

Best Practices

  • Communicate internally: Changing thresholds affects all users at that level. Ensure alignment on preferred values.

  • Use account thresholds for company-wide standards.

  • Apply building thresholds when local regulations differ between sites.

  • Set space thresholds for special cases where a single space requires different thresholds.

  • Review thresholds regularly to stay compliant with health and safety guidelines.
