Sensor Placement Guidelines:
Ideal Placement:
Coverage Area: The device is recommended for areas up to 50 square meters, but it can cover larger spaces depending on environmental conditions.
Hub Range: Ensure the sensor is within range of the Hub. The SmartLink protocol can easily penetrate up to 3 thick concrete walls or floors, or 10 drywalls in an office building. Note that old industrial constructions or deep underground areas may present challenges and should be evaluated before installation.
Height: Install the sensor between 1.1m and 1.8m (Breathing Zone) for optimal performance.
Avoid Placing the Sensor Near:
Large metal objects or cabinets
Doors or windows
Fresh air supply vents
Heat sources (e.g., radiators) or humidity sources (e.g., showers)
Outer walls
Direct sunlight
High VOC sources (e.g., whiteboards, cleaners, air fresheners)
Important Considerations:
Do not mount the device on the ceiling.
Ensure the device is securely installed and cannot fall, as this could cause damage or injury. The mounting height should not exceed 2 meters.
Exception for Space CO2 Mini: If necessary, the device can be mounted above 1.8m (6 feet), but it must be securely screwed into the wall.
Mounting the Device to the Wall:
There are two options for mounting your device:
Temporary Installation: Use the included double-sided tape if you know you will need to move the device in the future. This option allows for easy relocation.
Permanent Installation: Use screws if you know the device will not be moved after installation. This provides a more secure, long-term mounting solution.
Before you mount the device, assess whether the included 3M command strip is sufficient or if screws are necessary based on the wall type and device placement.
3M command strip
How to apply
Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol (avoid household cleaners).
Remove the red liners and press the strips firmly onto the back of the device.
Remove the black liner and press the device firmly onto the wall for 30 seconds to ensure strong adhesion.
How to remove
Carefully remove the device from the backplate.
Twist the backplate sideways to loosen it, never pull directly toward you, as this may leave adhesive residue on the wall.
Specifications of the 3M command strips
Not suitable for humid environments

Alternative Adhesives
3M commands strips are best suited for flat surfaces to ensure strong adhesion. If the command strips fail, there are stronger adhesives available on the market that will provide a much more robust attachment. However, they may not be as easy to remove or potentially damage your wall or backplate. As mentioned in the business manual, Airthings does not take responsibility for improperly installed devices.
Screws
For permanent installations, we recommend using screws to wall-mount. Use flat-top screws (the backplate hole is 4 mm) where the length and plug type is highly dependent on the wall material.
Example for a Space Plus.
Installation examples
When using the double-sided tape, it is crucial to press the back plate against the wall for at least 30 seconds. We have abbreviated this step in the video demonstrations for the sake of brevity.
