What is WELL, and why is this report useful?

The WELL Building Standard® is an international certification system that focuses on how buildings impact human health and wellbeing. One of its core areas is Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), which requires projects to demonstrate that air quality parameters are monitored continuously and meet defined performance thresholds.

For WELL certification and WELL Performance Ratings, projects often need to submit sensor-based IAQ data covering a defined time period. This data is reviewed using the WELL IAQ Sensor Data Compliance Calculator, an official WELL tool that checks whether monitoring requirements and performance criteria are met.

The WELL Report in the Airthings Business Dashboard is designed to help you prepare this data. It allows you to export sensor measurements in a format that aligns with WELL reporting requirements, thereby reducing the amount of manual formatting needed when completing the WELL templates.

Access the WELL report

  • Go to Reports

  • Find the WELL Report and click Explore

Configure the report

  • Select the Building

  • Choose the Time period

  • Select the devices you want to include in the report and click Add

  • Click Generate report

The report will be emailed to you. Depending on the number of devices and the time period, this may take a few hours.

Download the report

  • Download the ZIP file from your email.

  • Extract the ZIP file.

The ZIP file contains multiple files:

  • header_monitor_master.csv: contains all device serial numbers and specifications for every device

  • monitor_data_[serial number].csv: one CSV file for each device with IAQ data for the selected period.

Import the files into the WELL Sensor Data Compliance Calculator

There are multiple ways to get your Airthings data into the Sensor Data Compliance Calculator, but importing the CSV files is the most convenient.

Procedure (for both header_monitor_master and device data files):

  1. Open the WELL template in Excel

  1. Go to the Data tab

  2. Select From Text/CSV

  3. Choose the file you want to import

  4. In the pop-up, click Load

  5. The CSV file is imported as a new tab

Repeat these for all the files. Below you find a video demonstrating the different steps.
