Space Nano: onboarding and connection

Learn how to onboard a Space Nano, check the connection or reconnect it to a Hub

Updated over 3 months ago

Unboxing and activation

Upon removing the Airthings Space Nano from its packaging, the initial onboarding sequence begins if the following conditions are met:

  • Sufficient Lighting: Make sure there is adequate light in the area for the device to activate.

  • Touch Activation: Touch the Airthings logo on the sensor.

When both conditions are satisfied, the device will respond with:

  • One blue blink, followed by

  • White blinking, indicating that it is searching for the Space Hub.

Onboarding the Space Nano

After activation, the Space Nano can be added to your Airthings account through the Business App by simply scanning the QR code on the device.

You have 10 minutes to complete the onboarding process after activation.

Connecting to the Space Hub

The Space Nano will continue blinking white while it searches for and connects to the Space Hub. This white blinking will stop once the device is successfully connected and authenticated to the Airthings cloud.

Connection confirmation

You can manually check the connection status by touching the Airthings logo on the device:

  • Single white blink: The device is successfully connected to the Space Hub and Airthings cloud.

  • Single blue blink: The device is not connected to the Space Hub.

Re-Connection process

If the Space Nano loses its SmartLink connection with the Space Hub, it will automatically attempt to reconnect:

  • The device will search for the Space Hub for up to 1 minute or until it re-establishes a connection.

  • If it fails to reconnect within 1 minute, it will retry at increasing intervals to avoid draining the battery.

As long as the Space Nano is not connected to a Hub, you can manually start the re-connection flow by touching the Airthings logo again, which will trigger the search process from the beginning.
